Supply Chain Management/Logistics

There are various definitions for the terms logistics and supply chain management. In the context of consulting projects supply chain management refers to the whole value chain of a company. In a broader context supply chain management activities start with the suppliers and end with the customer. The task is to optimize material and information flows along the entire value chain with regard to costs, required quality and on time delivery to the customer. Logistics and supply chain management methods and concepts are used, customized to the specific needs of the respective company and its business partners. Besides already well-known methods and concepts the supply chain management offers a wide range of customer- and project-specific solutions and new developments.

Project topics – examples:

  • Analysis of as-is processes, development of to-be processes in the supply chain within a company or along the whole supply chain (including processes to the suppliers and to the customers)
  • Development of concepts for an increased use of IT to exchanges information between all members of a supply chain
  • Development of a concept to improve the logistics services for the customers (analysis of customer needs)
  • Optimization of logistics processes, e.g. use of KANBAN, RFID
  • Analysis and development of measures to reduce inventories, to reduce the lead time, to improve the availability of goods
