All activities within and outside a company are based on processes. The capability to manage business relevant processes is a precondition for the economic success of a company. Therefore organizational changes always result in the need to align or change processes. This can affect a single process of a department or division up to the whole value chain of a company or the subsidiaries of a group and across the border of the company regarding further participants in the value chain. In addition within the company it might be necessary to assign new process owners and give a training to them.
In order to survive in the competitive market and to ensure competitive advantages, a permanent optimization of processes is necessary, e.g. based on a continuous improvement process or the methods of Kaizen. In this context a documentation of processes and the definition of key performance indicators are important aspects. This enables a company to make inefficiencies within the processes more transparent and to find better solutions. Benchmarks within the same industry and across different industries might be an additional trigger for further increases in efficiency. In this context the consideration of the whole value chain from the suppliers to the customers plays an important role.

  • Business-specific use of methods to optimize processes (e.g. automization of processes, increased use of IT, improvement of delivery concepts, efficient management of the complexity in processes and of products, use of platform concepts, implementation of control activities to avoid waste and faults)
